Camp Work Weekend

Hi everybody,

Volunteer weekend at the camp is almost here. The bulk of the work will happen on Saturday, April 5th.

People are allowed to stay overnight, both Fri-Sat and Sat-Sun, but everybody needs to be off site before 10am on Sunday, since the camp is running another event then.

Activities we want to do include:

  • Scrub all the bathrooms (upper, lower, tavern, staff center)
  • Check cabins for winter damage to doors and windows. Repair anything simple, write down and report anything else.
  • Scrub the kitchen.
  • Make note of holes on the paths/roads that need filling (We’re probably not equipped to fill them ourselves)
  • Anything the camp suggests

If you have other things in mind, let me know!

We can also take the opportunity to inventory our props and costuming and discard things we no longer need.

The staff center building will have running water. However, whether other buildings have water will depend on the weather.

This will make scrubbing the kitchen and the far bathrooms more challenging. We’ll want to have jugs to move water, and buckets to rinse washcloths in.

Here are supplies we will want for the weekend.

You can get points for bringing them.

Make a note of what you plan to bring on the sign up sheet.

  • Cleaning supplies - cleaning solution, rags, sponges
  • Work gloves, nitrile gloves
  • garbage bags
  • water jugs, buckets
  • possibly: hammers, nails, drill/screw guns

RFR will not be providing food. If you would like to bring something to share, go ahead and list it on the sign up sheet. I expect we will make camp fires in the evening(s).

Whether lodging is assigned of free-for-all will depend how many people we expect. I will make a follow up post about that about a week beforehand.

Sign up sheet:

WW Work Day April 25 - Google Sheets?

Our usual Covid policy will be in effect.

Our point rate for volunteering is less good than the during-game rate, but better than the NPC-another-larp rate.
Anyone who attends gets 2 points, anyone who stays more than 6 hours gets a third point.

See you soon,

-Beth B.

We have a thread on Discord for work supplies as well. Discord

I can only be there April 4th but I’ll tear through what I can.

Masking and testing for the Work Weekend:

As per the Covid Policy, we have checked the wastewater data today and determined that it is under the risk threshold. This means that if you test twice before the event, you can go without a mask. (Normally we’d say, “Everywhere except the kitchen”. In this case, RFR is not providing food, and the kitchen will be a place for cleaning rather than food prep. You should still wear a mask if you are inside and preparing food to share. You may also want to wear one to breath in fewer cleaning fumes.)

The two tests should be done 24-48 hours apart and the second test needs to be done within 24 hours of when you arrive.

The procedure for this is as follows, assuming you are showing up Friday night. If you are showing up Saturday morning, pretend all these dates & times are 12 hours later than written:

  1. Do a rapid test between approximately 10 AM on Wednesday and 10 AM on Thursday* and send a picture of the negative test to testing@redfeatherroleplaying.com
  2. Do a second rapid test at least 24 hours and no more than 48 hours after the first test , between 10 PM on Thursday and arrival on Friday and send a picture of the negative test to testing@redfeatherroleplaying.com

If you have sent both tests, you can go unmasked. Everyone is required to test at least once within 24 hours of the event and send that result to the same email address. There will be some rapid tests available on site, either in the staff center or in the tavern. If you test on site, you can also just show the person at check-in the picture.

  • You can technically take it as early as 10 PM on Tuesday and as late as 10 PM on Thursday as long as you space the second test an appropriate time apart. These times were selected to be maximally safe for when we think people are likely to test

Our ombuddy, kep, created a visualization of the testing timeline which I have included below.

Regarding lodging, I’ve added a column to the spreadsheet and assigned spaces to the families with kids.

Since there are only about half a dozen other people left, I’m not going to both assigning cabins. If you want to claim somewhere, go ahead and add it to the spreadsheet. Make sure everyone else in your cabin is cool with sharing space if you sign up for somewhere that already has people.

Camp map added to help people claim spots.
