We have an amazing community here, with lots of seasoned LARPers, and folks that like to spend time in the Outdoors. That said, we want to make sure that we overcommunicate some concerns around safety when it comes to excessively warm weather.
Presently, several meteorological sources state that temps will be in the mid-to-high 80sF, with possibility to break 90F. The “feels like” will be in the 90s all weekend.
We’d love to remind folks that health and safety are always our #1 priority, and that we look out for each other in this community.
That said, its important that we don’t let each other go on the heat-exhaustion/heat-stroke module this weekend.

Stay hydrated. We’ve said it a million times, but water is water. Electrolyte drinks are also valuable, but do not replace water.

Bring extra dry layers to wear under your garb. The humidity will be high, and you may or may not sweat in addition to the humidity making us feel a bit damp. Dry socks, undergarments, and wicking layers can make for a much more enjoyable experience.

Sunscreen. It looks like Sunday in particular will be hot and sunny. Though UV index is predicted to be 10 on Saturday and 9 on Sunday. Both considered “Very high.” Protect your skin.

Bug repellant Ticks, Mosquitos, and Black Flies, oh my! We are coming into full on bug season. We can keep the tavern windows (that have screens) open, but might be best to keep the doors closed to keep out the bloodsuckers. (Note: Please apply any aerosol sprays far from, and down-wind from the tavern)

Safety>Immersion If you need to do something to take care of yourself, do it. We come to our game because we all like to stay in character, go on adventures, solve problems, and immerse ourselves in our lore-rich world-of-play. That said, if you ever need to tap out, your safety is more important than maintaining immersion.
