Town Clerk Notes- The Conclave 825

A note is posted on the Town Bulletin Board

Greetings Citizens of Oak Harbor.

I would like to thank those who did the research that is being presented before you today. The Town Council has been notified and pay should be ready for you in the fall. For those who visited the art gallery this past gather, you would know that we are designing a Conclave Hall for this grand meeting between the Felicitoro Houses. The Zaffiro have made a deal with the town council that in exchange for the labor that they will pay for, we will get to make use of the building long after the conclave. The Town Council has voted unanimously that we will be getting one large space, and three smaller spaces to work with.

These spaces have a cost to maintain for the benefits they are giving out. Should these costs not be paid for a gather, we would have to put work into repairing them. Such costs are noted along side what they do.

The Large Space:

  • Theatre:
    Effect: Once per event a group of at least 5 people can perform a play, concert or musical of at least 10 minutes. All performers and their audience receive 2 temporary uses of Oakskin.
    Cost: Performance must begin by burning 8 plants components and ‘tipping’ the Theatre 40 L

  • Warehouse:
    Effect: Merchants gain 1 use of Reliable Source with a Felicitoro Family in good standing with the Parlor of Rings. You must pick one Family and negotiate the commodity. The commodity can be changed with the agreement of the Family. The price is subject to the markets. If you fall out with the Family or the Family falls out with the Parlor of Rings, it will take one game to reestablish Reliable Source with another Family. (Reliable Source (3*): You have located a source (NPC or organization) who always deals in a specific commodity(s). Their transaction(s) will always appear on your merchant lots list. The source and the transaction(s) they will perform must by located in game, and may need in-game maintenance to preserve or improve.)
    Cost: 3 uses of Merchant and 40L

  • Town Fair:
    Effect: Once per season, a merchant lot list of items available locally will be available to all PCs. The Town Fair lot list will be posted in the tavern. Each PC may make 2 purchases from the list. If possible, an NPC will administer the Town Fair at some point during the gather. Regardless, each PC may come to the staff center to make their purchases.
    Cost: 20L and Maintain neutral to positive relationships with local businesses.

Town Clerks Notes on the Large Spaces: As someone who has been a merchant in town for quite some time, I for one feel like the town fair is something that looks better on paper than it really might be in practice. For the most part myself and some other members of the Oak Harbor Merchants Guild run into a problem of looking at lots no one is willing to buy. It’s often the case that we run the lots by the usual suspects willing to buy components and come up with maybe one thing per gather that folks want to buy. As someone who has had these experiences almost every gather for the past two years, it is something I personally am hesitant to endorse as a thing for the whole town.

As limited as the Warehouse seems at first, Reliable Source is something I believe would be of greater use to the town as a whole. Every merchant, and I have been led to believe this includes those who learned to trade from their culture, is able to establish a deal with a different Felicitoro House for specific things. I do believe, based on my experience working as a Merchant in Oak Harbor this is something more of you would want, because they are items you will know to be around repeatedly. I frequently get asked if specific items are on the lot list, and this is how we can have a better guarantee on it.

As for the Theater, its just good. I think all of these are really good benefits to our town. I think the Warehouse and Town Fair both do slightly more than the theater, but its just a really helpful option for everyone.

The Small Spaces:

  • Smithy
    Effect: All smiths gain 5 uses of temporary Smith’s Endurance per event.
    Cost: 30L and 4 metals
  • Greenhouse
    Effect: All herbalists gain 5 temporary uses of one of Gardening, Crafting or Extraction Expertise per event.
    Cost: 30L and 8 plant components
  • Rune Meditation Room
    Effect: All rune mages gain 5 temporary rune pool per event.
    Cost: 30L and 8 components
  • Laboratory:
    This information will only be provided to an alchemist.
  • Realm Library
    Effect: Gain two temporary uses of your racial skill per event.
    Cost: 30L
  • Davenstern Post Office
    Effect: Individuals with Contacts gain 1 temporary use of Basic Contacts per event.
    Cost: 30L and a nice copy of the TC notes and Town Crier notes for the University. The university will not pay for these items.
  • Clinic
    Effect: Druids gain 2 temporary uses of Healing Refresh per event.
    Cost: 30L and 8 components
